New Lunch Bag

A duct tape lunch bag only lasts about a quarter before it starts looking really sad.

Here's The Girl's new bag that I made yesterday for her.

Now her lunches can go to school in style.

Holiday Bags a la Duct Tape

To make up for my utter lack of imagination in gift giving (gift cards to everyone), the kids and I created small duct tape bags to put the gift cards in.

Working with duct tape can be a real hassle at times. Working on a tiny scale doesn't make it any easier, but the end result was mighty adorable.




This is a full sized bag. It's a wine tote I made for sweet Mindi. I wanted to play with texture in this bag. I went though almost a whole roll of chrome tape to make all of the braids. The effect wasn't exactly what I imagined. The Man called this the heavy metal bag. I was hoping for something more like bling. Maybe if I hadn't based it in black...

But the last bag we made was the best. This full sized tote made for The Sister took all three of us a good long time to negotiate. It ended up having no visible seam which I particularly proud of.
Here's the other side. I think it came out so neat.
There were a few colors that we didn't use on this bag because they were too distracting from the whole. It's amazing but true.

"Post more blogs" was not one of my New Year's resolutions, but I will try to get in more than two a month. Happy New Year!

Duct Tape Fanciness

Hey look! I made this bag yesterday. I am mighty proud of it to the point that whenever I would pass it today I would go, "Oooh! Look at that!"


It's completely made out of duct tape, even the handle, except for the two Velcro tabs that keep it closed. The weave is not stuck down either. It's non-sticky strips held down only on the ends giving it texture. Here's a lousy picture of it. The back is exactly the same pattern as the front.

This bag is my new restaurant bag. Very often I can't finish all of my meal and the waitress says, "Do you need a box?" and I say, "No, I've brought my own." This is how anti-Styrofoam I've become. I would love to start a trend where everyone does this, but I'm not holding my breath.


The boxes themselves are microwave and dishwasher safe. I carry around two just in case and I've made the bag to fit them both.
This bag took three hours to make and quite a bit of duct tape. I can't wait to take it out for its maiden restaurant voyage.
