The after weekend Whoa!

Saturday was the big graduation bash for The Brother. The weather cooperated and it ended up being a beautiful rain free day. The mayflies made sure everyone kept from sitting still and were the endless topic of discussion.

I said that I would take lots of pictures. I ended up taken five. Here's three of them.

The other two are not worth seeing. Trust me. So you'll just have to take my word that it was a truly lovely party. My favorite part was that my parent's neighbor when I was a kid showed up. Seeing Barney and hearing him laugh took me right back to ten years old. Catching up with him was such a treat.

Sunday was the recital. And yes, of course, I cried through the whole thing. We had a ultra rude family of chair kickers and talkers right behind us headed by a mommy who didn't mind dropping the eff word now and then. My grandmother was highly offended. I tried to get them to move by pointing out empty seats in front but they didn't take the bait. In retrospect, we should have been the ones to move.

But despite all that the show was a success and The Girl was graceful and beautiful. Today she's a bit of a sleepy grump, but I guess she's earned it.

Our Graduate

Last night was the commencement ceremony for Elyria High. Here's The Brother looking very graduated.

This is the only other shot I got. Right after I took this, the batteries died in the camera. Way to plan ahead on my part. Anyway, just image all of these seats filled with girls wearing white caps and gowns and boys wearing red.

It really was the most perfect weather for the ceremony. Not too hot or cold. And not raining. The crowd was huge and crushing. While our family was a pocket of politeness, others brought huge balloon bouquets into the stands and air horns to blow to celebrate their graduate. There was plenty of screaming too. Lots and lots of screaming.

The field was a bit soft from all the recent rain so the girls in their high pointy heels had some trouble walking around, but no one tripped or fell down during the ceremony. It was a bit of a disappointment. (Okay, not really!)

Congratulations to The Brother for a job well done. Now go get a job!

Happy Birthday to The Brother

Yesterday, (sorry for being a day late!) my baby brother turned 18. This guy is leaving High School in a big way with a full ride to LCCC in his pocket. I told him that now that he was 18 he could buy his own lottery tickets, but that didn't seem too excited about that. But really what else is being 18 good for besides lotto tickets, cigarettes and Selective Service? The years between 18 and 21 are like adult limbo.

Anyway, true to my form, here's the baby pictures!

He was the worlds cutest newborn. No contest there.
You say you like vintage Man pictures? Here he is when he was just my boyfriend hanging out with the baby.

It's the classic Use-The-Baby-As-A-Shield maneuver. Check out those cute shoes!

Finally, one of my favorites. The Brother and Stella hunt for prey.

Happy Birthday, babe! I hope your day was a wonderful one!
